The work begins with movement.

Each photograph in this exhibition contains some form of movement—people passing through a space, a body caught in motion, light shifting across a surface, or shadows stretching and changing as they move through the frame. Sometimes the movement is immediate and recognizable. Other times it is quieter, almost imperceptible.

The idea is rooted in the ancient Greek concept πάντα ῥεῖ — “everything flows.” Heraclitus understood the world as something constantly changing, where nothing remains exactly as it was. Light changes. Shadows change. People move. Places change. Even a moment, once seen, is already disappearing.

Working in high-contrast black and white allows these changes to become more apparent. Light and darkness are not simply opposites; they are constantly moving into one another. Between the two is a softer transition—a gradual edge where light becomes shadow and shadow gives way to light. That space between them is often where the photograph begins to feel alive.

These images are drawn from ordinary moments and overlooked spaces. There is no attempt to make the everyday extraordinary. Instead, the photographs ask the viewer to slow down longenough to notice what is already there: a passing figure, a shifting shadow, a fleeting gesture, or a moment of light that will exist only briefly.

The artist is interested in that brief intersection between stillness and motion—the moment something is changing, but before it has completely changed.

Through movement, light, and shadow, these photographs become observations of a world in constant flux.

Everything flows.
